Handing the kit over were Academy starlets Jerome Sinclair, Dahrius Waldron, Pedro Chirivella and Andrew Firth and the lads helped to get it all ready for sale.

The club and the hospice are hoping that the move will encourage the local community to go in to purchase the kit which is from the current season and in most cases brand new and never worn. Available to buy are new officials tops and shorts along with worn tops, shorts, tracksuit tops and bottoms.

Reds under 18 player Jerome Sinclair said: “I hope Reds fans head to the Claire House shop in Norris Green to buy our donated kit ahead of Christmas. It’s important to support local charities such as Claire House Children’s Hospice, who provide such important care to local young people with life-limiting conditions.”

Claire House’s Stock Generation Manager, Mike McCaughley, added: “It’s been fantastic to receive all of the donated kit from the Liverpool FC Academy at such an important time of the year for our shops.

“Our branches across the North West provide vital funds to help us maintain the very best care to our children, young people and their families, so we hope LFC fans come along to our Norris Green store in Liverpool to grab a bargain for Christmas.”

There are a chain of Claire House charity shops across the North West, selling a selection of products including clothes for all ages, accessories, books, DVDs, toys and “bric-a brac”.

Those shops help with the fundraising needed to meet the £2.7million yearly cost of keeping the  children’s hospice open and providing care young people.
