LFC heading to Norway for pre-season

LIVERPOOL FC have added another date to their pre-season tour this summer with the announcement of a visit to Norway for a game against Vålerenga in August.

The match is scheduled for 7pm local time on August 7th at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo.

LFC’s Chief Commercial Officer, Billy Hogan, explained why the Reds are playing this game: “The Norwegian club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and wanted to secure landmark fixtures, which we are delighted to be part of. We last played Vålerenga in 2011 and before that in 2008 so we are thrilled to be meeting them again this summer.

“Liverpool FC has a large fan base in Norway and this fixture allows us to bring the Club closer to those Norwegian fans that cannot make it to Anfield to see their team play”.

Vålerenga’s CEO, Pål Breen, said: “We have established a very good connection with Liverpool FC over the years and are very happy to welcome them back to Oslo. Liverpool is a huge club with a large following in Norway and this will be a large happening for those with both blue and red hearts.”

Those last two visits to play Vålerenga saw Rafa Benitez’s side win 4-1 in August 2008, with Kenny Dalglish taking a side over ahead of the 2011 season, a game that ended 3-3.

The Reds are also visiting Thailand, Australia and Indonesia over the summer for friendlies, before Anfield stages Steven Gerrard’s testimonial against Olympiacos on August 3rd. The Premier League is due to kick off on August 17th.
