LFC change financial year-end
LIVERPOOL FC have changed their financial year so that it ends two months earlier, on May 31st as opposed to July 31st. Liverpool’s next published accounts will cover the period August 1st 2011 to May 31st 2012. The same change applies to the holding company that owns the football club.
The club have explained the reasons for the change:
“The change to a May year end is purely to align the end of our Financial year with the end of the Footballing season, having a May year end simply provides a cleaner cut off in terms of accounting for the transfer of players (as the transfer window now falls completely in one financial year as opposed to straddling two financial years), the launch of any new kit is now accounted for in the season the kit will be worn and the Pre Season tour now falls into the same financial and football year.”
Liverpool launched the first of three new kits on June 1st, the day Brendan Rodgers officially became the club’s new manager. The pre-season tour begins with a game in Canada on July 21st against Toronto, to be shown live in the UK on ESPN, before heading into the US for games against Roma and Tottenham Hotspur.
