darren read redknapp's postmatch coments.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp expressed his disappointment after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.

Spurs now sit just one point ahead of the Reds in fourth place as the race for the Champions League hots up.

"We came here in good form, but I was disappointed in us tonight," Redknapp told Sky Sports. "We had a great opportunity tonight and in all honesty my players were below par."

Redknapp though was graceful in defeat and was quick to praise the application of the Liverpool players throughout the match.

"Give credit where it's due they worked their socks off. Dirk Kuyt never stopped working and chasing, the whole team played with great enthusiasm," he admitted.

The Tottenham boss also said that the Liverpool fans are second to none and any game at Anfield isn't an easy one.

Redknapp added: "The crowd here is the most amazing site in football, they responded to the crowd and deserved the win."

Just watched the game and come away with mixed feelings.
We won ! Wahoo ! - But how ? God knows. Spurs fans must be thinking exactly what we were thinking against Stoke last week. They should have had penalty and had what seemed to be a goal disallowed.
Their open play was far better than ours - "a team " and a well drilled team at that. While we although committed looked disjointed and clueless at times.
Degen is possibly the worst player i have ever seen in the red shirt. I would love to know at what point Benitez thought " Degen he's the answer! - Sign him !" God he's crap..
He makes Lucas look truly world class. To be fair to Lucas though he does try his best as does Kuyt who scored a great 1st goal but should have scored three or four goals tonight if he'd shown more composure in front of goal.
Spurs had lots of possesion (66% in the 2nd half) they played like the home team while we just charged around rushing misplaced passes and yet again giving the ball away.
I do feel sorry for Benitez, he clearly is giving his all for the club but his tactics / subs are just strange.
One striker up front - at home ?
Two holding midfielders - at home ?
Another new signing (Maxi) on the bench?
Having said all that - We won ! - and my God we needed a win. let's be positive eh ?
At least Aquilani looked the part tonight . He could be a good signing after all.....
