lets not forget that aquilani is still new to the team, gerrard has been there and done that. aquilani will get his time (even though i wanted to see him when we were 2 nil up). not only does he need to be fit but he needs to settle not everyone is going to be like torres and take to the league like a duck to water.

We didint play well at all but a win is a win. its three points at a time when other teams slipped up.

It will build confidance and hopefully get our season going proper.
But if Aquilani doesnt start a game soon i think i'll crack up ..(lol)
Gerrard is clearly not fit but he is still playing ?

great article jim. i agree wholeheartedly. lets do a counterfactual. if the teams would have swapped shirts, and everton won (as liverpool did), is there any question in anyones mind that the tone and substance of the match reports/interviews/columns etc., all that the punditocracy produces, would have been singing the praises of moyes/evertons win to the high heavens? when everton won 3-0 a few years back, which was a much bigger travesty than what the bitters and pundits would have it that everton suffered yesterday, what was the reaction then? did the bitters gnash their teeth and beat their breasts in self-flagalation? no. we all know they didnt, cause we got the DVD adverts.

what a difference torres (or crouch, or anyone who could have been a good outlet) have made in the match. ngog has surpassed expectations, but....

thats my grip. other than that, great job to the players for fighting like they did in such a "homer" officiated match, with a team that lacked the physical presence of everton. and great job to rafa for getting on with the job.

and why does the distin foul on lucas in the box not get a mention anywhere?
