The starting line up was the wrong one. Simply we have been playing well using the old 4-4-2. Citys defence is the week point of their team, why not attack it. But no, we go with the cautious 5 in the middle. It didnt work and we looked twice the team when the second attacker came on the pitch.

If we play all season like we did in the last 20 minutes the title will be ours. For the first time in ages we showed guts and the desire to win. Torres grabbing the ball post netting his first and running back to the centre spot summed it up for me, we wanted it and we wanted it badly. I was made up with the attitude and shear determination of the side.

Star men for me were Reira, who had a good first half but nobody to benefit from his creative advances on the wing. Carra and Martin looked quality in the middle and Torres as ever looked dangerous.

The team looked solid with the only weak point for me being the two full backs. Arbaloa looked ok but aurelio is out of his depth. He gave the ball away on many an occassion and was partly responsible for the first goal after a very poor pass. He is also slow at getting back and defending.

Loosing Skrtel is a blow, but Agger does make a fine replacement but will take time to settle back in to the team. Lets hope he’s back soon.

Finally a word about the home fans. No atmosphere at all, and to boo Alonso following the well deserved red card was bad enough, but to boo Skrtel off the pitch was disgusting. Bad ,bad losers. Of course the initial post match reactions from them on several radio shows was to blame the referee for everything. For me they should be looking at their star brazilian wage thief whos head was the first to drop because they werent winning and who missed a sitter to win the game.

Top four team city, maybe one day………but no time soon. I suggest trying to build a decent crowd who know a bit about football first, instead of the blind, part time support who dont sing, dont shout and boo decent honest players.

And youve got a Utd man in charge, yep i suppose i’d be bitter too……..

Pity about Skrtel but at least Agger will get a few games. That’s why you need depth in the squad and hopefully Daniel will realise that and sign a new contract.

That was such an satisfying result today (bar the Skrtel injury).

2-0 down away from home at half-time. Come back to win 3-2, scoring the winner in extra time.

There was I saying Kuyt should be rested. And he was?!?! Onl to get the deciding goal of the bench. First goal of the season (for him).

Great for him. Great start to the season for us leading up to the International break.

How many times have we come back from being down this season. Fantastic character. A good sign.

Agger will now get his chance to shine. Hope he’s up to it. I expect he is!

A win today would be ideal but while Chelsea turned them over quite easily, we shouldn’t forget that Man City are a team just clicking into gear like we are and a draw shouldn’t be dismissed as a bad result, especially as we’re playing at their ground.

For some reason, however, i think if we play a 4-2-3-1 – to bottle SWP, Robinho and Elano (Monster knows how to take care of Robinho and Xabi can plug the holes and distribute alongside him) and allows Gerrard, Keane, Riera (or Babel) and Torres to weave their magic against a less disciplined Man City back-line, we could win.

Kuyt wouldn’t be dropped, just rested, while we try and get the goal(s) to win the game. Hopefully he’ll then score his 1st EPL goal of the season back home at Anfield.
